Nutribun resembled pandesal, only harder and more dense. And it was healthier. The soy flour is one of the ingredients of Nutribun it improve its nutritional value because soy flour is high in good-quality protein and rich in fat and micro-nutrients like calcium, iron and B-complex vitamins. According to Dr. Rodolfo Florento, president of Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines and a former director of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI). He said that "evaluation studies showed positive impact on nutrition of children fed with Nutribun for a sufficient period of time".
Local bakeries made Nutribun and distributed among targets schools and feeding centers. "Nutribuns at first it was free but was sold eventually at about 50 to 70 cendts," added Dr. Mario Capanzana, FNRI director.
